A graceful, lithe, well-balanced dog with no sign of coarseness, weakness or shelliness. In repose the expression is mild and gentle, not shy or nervous. Aroused, the dog is particularly alert and full of immense energy and courage. Noteworthy for endurance, Bedlingtons also gallop at great speed, as their body outline clearly shows.

Playful and cheerful, the Bedlington Terrier is loving with children and fairly friendly with strangers. They are loyal, lively and headstrong. Needs socializtion to non-canine pets, and usually get along with other dogs. A little powerhouse, it is courageous and energetic, with the ability to run very fast. It is an enthusiastic digger. Bedlingtons like to bark and can be high-strung.
The Bedlington Terrier originated in England, from a shire of the same name. Though we know itÆs native land, the true origins have been lost to history. The first recorded breeding practice came about in the 1820s. By 1825 they became officially known as the Bedlington Terrier. They are best known for their hair coat, being soft and woolly, like a lamb.
