The Kuvasz is an old breed originating in Hungary. They have been in existence for nearly 2,000 years; serving as protectors of humans and flocks. Their name in Turkish means soldier or guard, but in Magyar it means Dog of the Horse. Kuvasz at one time in their history were given as gifts to royalty and nobles; and therefore, were not owned by commoners.
