Description
The elongated muzzle of the Pumi is the most distinctive feature of the face. The slightly oblique, dark eyes have close-fitting lids.
Coloring
Coat colors are black, all shades of gray, and reddish brown, but always one solid color. White can occur.
Temperament
It is a vigorous and sturdy sheepdog, but also a successful guard dog and hunting dog. The Pumi is a lively and active breed. It is intelligent but barks easily. They are moderately easy to train, as it is easy to motivate using toys or food.
Origin
The Pumi originates as a sheep dog from Hungary. They are best known for herding sheep, but would also herd cows and pigs. Pumis have also been known to hunt for wild boar. They can be trained in search and rescue missions as well.
