Description
The Estrela Mountain Dog has two different coat types a long coat, and a short coat with both resembling the texture of goat hair. The head is long and powerful with a broad and slightly rounded skull.
Coloring
Fawn, wolf gray and yellow with White markings or shadings of black throughout the coat.
Temperament
The Estrela Mountain Dog is a wonderful family dog and protector. This large breed herding dog has a great love for children and is very affectionate to their owners. They are intelligent, loyal and love to be part of the family.
Origin
The Estrela Mountain Dog originated as a herd-guarding breed in the Estrela Mountains of Portugal. They have incredible sight and hearing, which made them perfect for sitting on mountain sides watching for their predators.
