Spanish Mastiff Breed Profile

Description

This large dog has a strong and stocky body. The coat is loose around the body with a double dewlap on the neck. The ears drop low in a triangle shape and the tail is long.

Yellow, red, black, wolf-grey, and red-brown, or broken colors or spotted

Temperament

This dog is a lover and makes a great family dog being very protective at all times. They may look lazy at times but are always on the watch and are pretty quick despite the size.

Origin

Spanish Mastiff is a very old race. It is thought that the breed descended from Greek ancestors brought to Spain via Greek and Phoenician traders. All the environments the breed has lived in have caused the Spanish Mastiffs to be independent and an instinctive defender.
