Biewer Yorkshire Terrier Breed Profile

A toy terrier the Biewer Yorkie has hair that hangs evenly down the body from the skull to the tail. Even though the dog is small they donÆt act the part and is energetic making it ready for any adventure.

The head must have three colors: black or blue, white, and gold in good symmetry. The belly, chest, legs, and the tip of the tail are white.

The Biewer Yorkies are always eager for an adventure. They contain a lot of energy. Because the Biewer breed is greatly protective and loyal, they create excellent watchdogs. Biewer Yorkies are very compassionate and sweet towards younger children and make a great family pet.

The Biewer Yorkie was developed in 1984 due to a genetic recessive gene. This gene creates a different mixture of colored Yorkies than the ones known to the original breed. The Biewers originated in Germany and the breed was first imported to the USA in 2003.
