Description

This dog has a thick, medium length coat that makes it unique. The one feature that separates the bred in the black tips of fur on the dogs ears that are called ôearringsö, however the coat does take about 2 years to fully mature.

Temperament

Friendly and good natured the Kooiker is an athletic dog that is an excellent family companion. Smart and willing to learn this dog is welcoming of family but can be reserved to strangers.

Origin

The Kooikerhondje originated in the Netherlands around the sixteenth century as a hunting and sporting breed. They were once used to lure and drive ducks into canal traps or Koois. They have a waterproof coat and well developed undercoat.
