Description

Long and narrow, skull moderately wide between the ears, not domed, stop not pronounced, the whole showing great quality. Nose black or liver. Ears Long and covered with long silky hair hanging close to the skull and mobile. Eyes Dark to hazel and bright; large and oval, but not prominent. Teeth Strong and level.

Coloring

White, cream, fawn, golden, red, grizzle and tan, tricolor (white, black and tan) and black and tan.

Temperament

The Saluki areáeven-tempered and sensitive. Gentle, affectionate, but not demonstrative. This loyal dog may become attached to one person. Good with gentle older children.

Origin

The Saluki is one of the oldest breeds in history, originating in Egypt and was considered to be a royal dog. PharaohÆs owned them, and frequently entombed them with their ownerÆs after death. SalukiÆs first came to England in the 1800s, then later in the early 1900s they came to the United States.
