The Pit Bulls origins come from a variety of Bulldogs from England and Ireland. They first appeared in the US in the 1800s and accompanied pioneer families on their explorations of the American West. Pits were used as flock and livestock protectors, family companions, and even for the hunting and tracking of large game. Pit Bulls have enjoyed a much respected history, and from the time they entered the US, they quickly became Americas sweetheart.
