A medium sized dog with a double coat that is short and straight. Has a broad head with prick ears and the tail curls over the back.

Temperament

Kishu Kens are courageous and brave, while being loyal to their owner. With a strong prey drive, the dog will hunt small animals. The Ken can be shy around strangers but will get along well with children if raised with them.

Origin

Kishu Kens originated in Japan and were originally used for boar and deer hunting. The Kishu Ken has a strong prey drive and will stalk by nature. In the early 1930Æs, they were chosen as a protected Japanese national monument.
