The Dogue De Bordeaux is one of the oldest of the Mastiff breed, having origins dating back to the 14th century. The uniformity of the breed we see today is due to the French placing great emphasis on keeping the old breeding line pure. The Bordeaux was named for the southern French city that shares the name. Dogue De BordeauxÆs were once classified into three categories; Parisian, Toulouse, and Bordeaux, based on the region there were bred and which jobs they held.
