The Black Mouth Cur is a well-muscled hungting and cattle dog. They often described as a dog of multiple talents because of their ability to be herding dogs by day and loving family dogs by night with proper training.

Great family dogs if properly socialized and trained. They are very loyal and smart dogs usually forming a strong bond with their owners. They can be territorial.
Their origin can vary depending on the region. The first were registered through the National Kennel Club in 1964 and were used to tree squirrel, raccoon, bobcat, mountain lions and bear.
